About
The Football Supporters Club has been established for many years now. We organise tickets and transport to numerous different International, European, Premiership and Nationwide matches.
We do the organisation and hard work, you relax and enjoy the game :-)
Over the past few years, we have had close contact with our local team, Bristol Rovers. We offer cheap tickets (and sometimes social events) on the day of every suitable home match.
If we can't get tickets for big (ie. bigger than Rovers) matches then we will often arrange a social event in a local pub and watch the match together on the big screens.
Tickets for matches vary between £25 and £40 depending on the cost of the tickets to the society (this includes travel). The savings are usually passed on to you in terms of the reduced travel cost of a coach compared to a train. We also use your £2 membership fee to subsidise the cost of the tickets.
Tickets to the local Bristol Rovers matches are also sometimes subsidised. You will usually expect to pay around £8 for a ticket compared to the full price of £14 but sometimes we can offer tickets for as little as £6. Frequent offers throughout the season from the club itself can lead to tickets as low as £1 for some matches. Travel to the match involves either a walk up Gloucester Road to the ground or a bus, taking advantage of the club's free bus ticket scheme.
Useful Information
- The first thing to say is PLEASE read your e-mails regularly and
thoroughly.
- We will send you e-mails via a Bristol University mailing list (ubu-football-supporters-members@bristol.ac.uk). Replies to those e-mails will go to ubu-football-supporters@bristol.ac.uk and your reply can then be read by the whole committee. DO NOT try to click "reply to all" because you just make unnecessary work for the university e-mail servers.
If you want to send us an e-mail, please send it to ubu-football-supporters@bristol.ac.uk or visit the contact page on our web site.
You will NOT be able to contact the other members of the society by e-mailing ubu-football-supporters-members@bristol.ac.uk. If you need to do so for any reason, please send your e-mail to us and we may forward it if we feel it is relevant to the rest of our members. This will also prevent you from receiving 10 replies to every e-mail we send!
- Also, look out for the subjects of our messages - we will try our best to make sure that we only include information relevant to the stated subject so you can safely ignore e-mails titled "Dorking vs Aldershot" if you have no interest in that match (for example).
- To help you ignore irrelevant e-mails, there is a new system where only those people who booked a ticket for a match are informed about relevant match details.
- You should try to keep e-mails from us for the duration of the year in case you need to
refer to them at any time. However, we will allow die-hard Bristol City fans to delete the e-mails about Bristol Rovers since we're nice!
- We will now send receipts via e-mail (no matter when/where you buy the
ticket). A random number will be included to ensure authenticity. You will no longer need to send a self-addressed envelope to us for postal
ticket reservations.
- E-mails that are notifying you of ticket sales will specifically say when
and where the tickets are on sale. This will usually be in the refectory
but ONLY at the time(s) specified in the e-mail. If you can't make that
time or don't get to read your e-mails in time, just send us a cheque in the
post. If you do not think the cheque will reach us by the deadline for
ticket applications (also stated in the same e-mail) please just send us a
short e-mail saying that you have sent the cheque. If you only miss the
deadline by one or two days, we MAY be able to accommodate you.
- The Refectory is located on Woodland road just opposite St Micheals Park. On the university precinct map it is number 41.
- A map showing directions to Bristol Rovers FC can be found by clicking here. Unless told otherwise, we will always meet by the X on the map half an hour before kick-off. We may go in to the ground any time after this so make sure you're there on time. Prices will usually be £8 but the exact cost may change from match to match. Tickets will usually be reserved for you if we receive a cheque from you no later than 3 days before the match. Buying the ticket in advance with a cheque will cost you less than turning up on the day (usually £6).
- You can express an interest in any match we are currently arranging that you wish to go to. You will still need to send us a separate cheque for the match using the address
above. You can click here to do this.
- All tickets we sell will include match ticket and coach travel unless we say otherwise.
- All cheques should be made payable to UBU Football Supporters Club.
- Unless you are specifically told otherwise, all
postal applications for tickets, etc. should be sent to the following
address:
UBU Football Supporters
The Treasurer
69 Worrall Road
Clifton
Bristol
BS8 2TX
- If you wish to bring along friends/family to any matches, they must join
the society. This will cost them £2 and applies to non-students too.
Please send us a cheque for their membership fee separately from the cheque
for their ticket. If you combine the two amounts into one cheque, we will
cash the whole cheque straight away and if the trip is cancelled, you will
have to face the (sometimes lengthy) process of getting your ticket money
back - something no-one really wants to bother with :-)
- Still on the subject of cheques, PLEASE try to pay for all tickets by cheque (excluding Bristol Rovers on-the-day tickets). Handling large amounts of cash is more time consuming, more complicated regarding refunds and could prove financially crippling to the society if (God forbid) any nasty muggings or thefts were to occur! We will always accept cash as payment but we just ask you to try to plan ahead and bring your cheque book when buying tickets so
we can handle the minimal amount of cash.
We do want to re-iterate that we'll always answer any questions that you ask us - we just want to try to reduce the number of questions about things that we have already stated at least once in previous e-mails. If you can't find the answer to your question, please don't hesitate to ask us.
